Dave Johnson

Position:  Boys Varsity and Girls Junior High Soccer Coach
 
Years Coaching:  1990 - Present
 
Personal Information:  I started playing soccer at the age of 5 in Washington DC.  I graduated from Northpointe Christian High School in Grand Rapids, MI.  After my senior soccer season, I was named MVP of the League, 1st team All-District, and 2nd team All-State.  I then graduated from Cornerstone University, where I played on a soccer scholarship.  During my freshman year at Cornerstone, our team took 6th place in the Nation at the NAIA finals in Texas.  I started coaching soccer as soon as I stopped playing and I love being involved with the game.
 
I am married to Denae and we have two children, Andrew (16) and Shelby (14).
 
I have been coaching at Algoma since 2005.  I started coaching the Boys Junior High Soccer team, where my son Andrew played.  Andrew currently is on the Varsity Boys team and Shelby is on the girls JH team.
 
Favorite Bible verse:  II Corinthians 9:15
 
Other Interests & Pursuits: Hunting and Fishing.
 
Comments:  I love the way that you can draw parallels from the game of Soccer to the Christian Life.  I enjoy teaching kids the game of soccer, but I get my true satisfaction in seeing the kids grow up to be strong leaders - Leaders in soccer, Leaders in life, and Leaders in their faith.
