English:

Basic language concepts are taught yearly at each grade level.  Each year students use literature anthologies, novels, grammar, and writing to develop their abilities in communication and learning  to understand God’s gift of language.  The study of spelling and vocabulary are also a part of each year’s course of study.

History:

US History I is a study of the foundations of our country, as well as our       nation’s major political events up to the Civil War.

Bible:

Christian Heritage begins by tracing the spread, growth and theological development of the early church as recorded in The Acts of the Apostles. By exploring the varied and often hostile historical situation of the early Christians, students better appreciate the challenges faced by Christians around the world today. The second half of Christian Heritage focuses on the pivotal people, places, beliefs and controversies that have shaped the Church’s 2000 years of development. Special attention is given to the key people and movements of the Protestant Reformation and the resulting unity and diversity in the Church today.

Computer:

During the years that junior high students take computer, the goal is to raise the keyboarding speed to 35 words per minute while using proper finger positioning.   Exploration and application of word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentations using Microsoft Office are an integral part of the class.  Graphics programs, Internet use, and other areas are also investigated.

Art:

Students study styles of art and do projects that relate a style of art to a famous artist who used that style.

Music:

The students concentrate on rhythm and melody in class work and small group compositions.  The study of harmony is introduced.

In all junior high classes, we sing an assortment of contemporary and traditional songs and rounds.  We also offer wind instrumental instruction and a specialty choral group called “Knight Song”

Spanish:

In the Spanish rotation, students learn more grammar and vocabulary each successive year.  Students learn to construct simple Spanish sentences that are grammatically correct.
