Kindergarten through fifth-grade students have art once a week for 40 minutes. The students are introduced to many artists, mediums, and art movements, as well as a working knowledge of the elements and principles of art.
Middle School Art:
6th grade reinforces the skills and techniques learned in elementary, as well as introducing students to new artists and time periods.
7th grade covers a large portion of art history starting with the renaissance and working towards modern art. Students learn about many different artists and techniques as they study each period in history.
8th grade explores art using non-traditional art materials: self portraits painted on soap boxes, sculptures made from lint, and many other fun materials, just to name a few.
High School Art:
This elective class introduces and reinforces student's drawing techniques, watercolor and acrylic painting, sculpture, color theory, portraiture, and printmaking. It reinforces the elements and principles of design as students learn to critically analyze art. Students will also study different art movements and careers in art.
