Our Program

Bible:  
- Bob Jones curriculum
We learn about the attributes of God, Bible study and prayer, God's faithfulness, God's victories, contentment, love, Christ and His people, and eternal promises.


English/Language Arts/Writing:  
-Bob Jones curriculum
In grammar we focus on sentences, nouns, verbs, study and reference skills, pronouns, adjectives, adverbs, and phrases and clauses.  In writing we explore personal narratives and friendly, business, and persuasive letters.  We also compare and contrast essays and write book reviews, tall tales, research papers, and poems.


Reading:
-Literature Units:  Paddle to the Sea, Because of Winn Dixie, The Midnight Fox, Little House in the Big Woods, Dear Mr. Henshaw, Frindle, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, and Medallion.  We explore autobiographies and biographies. We also explore vocabulary, comprehension questions, summaries, character studies, write/pair/share journal writing, graphic organizers, and interactive notebooks with our literature units.


Spelling: 
-Bob Jones curriculum

We use a variety of teacher-created spelling activities to learn 20 spelling words every week. ​

Mathematics:  
-Bob Jones curriculum

We learn Place Value and Money, Addition and Subtraction of Whole Numbers, Fractions, 
Multiplication and Division Facts, Decimals,
Multiplication: 1 Digit Multipliers,
Geometry: Plane Figures, 1 Digit Divisors, Data and Graphs, 
Customary Measurement and Time
 Multiplication: 2 Digit Multipliers,
 Fractions: Addition and Subtraction,
Metric Measurement, 
 Division: 2 Digit Divisors,
 Geometry: 3 Dimensional Figures, and Pre-Algebra



Science:  
-ACSI Purposeful Design

In Science we explore Life, Heat, Light, Forces, Matter, Spheres of the Earth, Universe, and Body Systems

Social Studies/History/Geography:
-Bob Jones curriculum
We learn about American history from the 1700's to the early 1900's.  Some of the topics we explore are immigration, evangelism, missionaries, inventions, economics, railroads, communication, the Boer War and the Boxer Uprising, Native Americans, and the American government. We also explore our state of Michigan. Along with our history curriculum we study geography skills. 


Field Trips: 
We visit the Lansing capital and museum.


Specials:
Art, Computers, Music, PE (twice a week), Library, and Chapel


Fourth Grade Extras: 
The fourth graders participate in the Christmas play, a recorder concert, academic fair, spelling bee, and a Passover celebration.
