Mitch Taylor - Head of School

Career: Bachelors of Business Administration, Northwood University; MBA, Northwood University; Associates of Arts in Ministry/Bible from Global University-Berean School of the Bible.

Comment: Mitch Taylor brings a rare combination of executive leadership, combat-proven service, and deep pastoral calling to his role as Head of School, a position he assumed in January 2026. He holds a Master of Business Administration from the DeVos Graduate School of Management, a Bachelor of Business Administration from Northwood University, and an Associate of Arts in Ministry/Bible from Global University–Berean School of the Bible. For 14 years he served as President and General Manager of a multi-national, multi-million-dollar corporation, where he built and led a high-performing management team and directed extensive capital expansion initiatives. A United States Marine, Mr. Taylor served four years, deploying to Iraq for two combat operations before receiving an honorable discharge at the rank of Sergeant. Called by the Lord into ministry in 2015 and ordained in September 2018, he continues to serve the Kingdom of Heaven with steadfast commitment. Alongside his wife, Erica, he oversees Living Stones, a local church in Sand Lake. Mr. Taylor and Erica are the proud parents of four ACS students (Classes of ’25, ’27, ’29, and ’31). Their family has called ACS home for a decade, during which all four children have flourished both academically and spiritually. He is a passionate advocate for K–12 Christian education, viewing it as essential for raising young men and women as consecrated disciples of Jesus Christ.

Career: Mrs. Lyons is a graduate of Faith Baptist School in Davison, MI; graduated from the University of Michigan-Flint; and completed her Masters of Education degree at Liberty University; ACSI Certificate. She has been teaching at ACS since 2008.

Comment: I am originally from the Grand Blanc area of East Michigan. After our family relocated to the West Michigan area, it was difficult not having any family or friends with whom to connect.  ACS filled that void and has become our new family and provided a strong friendship network for each of us. My husband and I have three children, all of whom have attended ACS. This school has become a part of our hearts, and we are so very blessed to have found such an amazing place to call 'home'. I am grateful for this school!

Education: Bachelor of Science, Arizona State University

Comment: This will be my second year at Algoma Christian School. My children have attended ACS for 5 years. I fell in love with education and leadership during 12 years of service in the United States Marine Corps. I subsequently fell in love with Jesus through our Father’s irresistible grace. Prior to ACS I instructed ballistics and meteorology at the Ft. Sill Fires Center of Excellence, ballistics and fire direction at the 11th Marines Artillery Training School, and secondary science at Lake Michigan Academy, Grand Rapids. When I’m not working or with family, I enjoy serving in men’s and veteran’s ministry.

Career:  Bachelor of Arts, from Alma College. Michigan Teaching Certification; ACSI Certificate.

Comment: Algoma Christian is a family atmosphere where I enjoy the opportunity to work with students and families as we make disciples. I'm thankful to be part of such a great team where we can all use our talents for the Lord. I have been at ACS since Fall of 2010. My role is to help students prepare for their life after high school by aiding in scheduling, checking graduation requirements, communicating about necessary assessments, along with connecting with students and families about other vital information. In addition, I coordinate with our local district, Kent City Community Schools, as the District Rep for special education services. My two daughters have attended ACS since Wee Knights and are part of the class of 2025 and 2029. I am thankful for the quality education and love they receive.
Please come talk to me, or email me, if I can help your student prepare for life after ACS or if you'd like to discuss how to better meet your child's individual learning needs.

Morgan Kehoe -- Athletic Director

Career:  Bachelor of Science from Ferris State University in Recreation Leadership Management and Interpersonal Communication.  Master of Arts from Michigan State University in Communication.

I have worn many hats during my career at ACS.  Currently, my roles include Athletic Director, Varsity Volleyball Coach, and teaching Secondary English and High School Physical Education.

Comment:  When it was time for my husband and I to decide on the educational path for our two boys we were led to Algoma Christian School.  We fell in love quickly with the family atmosphere and the focus on Christ and His biblical teachings. I have worked for Algoma Christian since my youngest son was in kindergarten.  I worked in the office for 7 years and then switched to the classroom and I love it!  Through my time playing volleyball and running track at Ferris State, I discovered not only a passion for sports but also a passion to share my knowledge, experience, and love of athletics with others through coaching.  It has been an honor to coach the ACS varsity volleyball team for the past ten years.  It has been a continued blessing to coach, work, and send my kids to Algoma Christian.

Sadie VanderKodde -- Development Director (T/W/Th)

Comment: As an alumnus and member of the "All the Way Through Club," ACS has been a huge part of my life. My husband and I met here in Kindergarten, married in 2005, and knew it was where we wanted our three kids to spend their school careers when the time came. Now, as part time librarian and part time development director, I'm thrilled to share my love of books and ACS in the various aspects of my jobs!

Education: Bachelor of Science in Education from Faith Baptist Bible College, Master of Education in Administration and Supervision from Liberty University, Michigan Teaching Certification

Comment: I am looking forward to my first year at ACS! God has given me the opportunity to use my education degree in many ways throughout my teaching career including supporting homeschool families, substitute teaching in public, private, and Christian schools, and teaching a variety of grades and subjects in Christian and private schools. God has given me a passion for supporting students' academic needs and I am looking forward to supporting ACS students' academic growth!
